Assisted Towel Hangs

Introduces towel grip on one side for asymmetry, training uneven loads. Work both sides to balance.

Standards

LEVEL 1: 2 Holds of 30 Seconds (Each Side)
LEVEL 2: 2 Holds of 50 Seconds (Each Side)
LEVEL 3: 3 Sets of 60 Seconds (Each Side)

Do 3 Sets, holding for as long as you can each time. The levels above are standards you can use to measure your progress. Rest 2-3 minutes between Sets.

If you struggle to hit Level 1 after a few weeks of trying, try using a regression shown below or use an easier variation.

Form Cues

  • Grip towel firmly to avoid slip; bar hand supports more initially. Keep body aligned—no twisting. Switch sides per hold for even development.

Tutorial

  1. Drape towel over bar.

  2. Grip towel one hand, bar other.

  3. Hang fully, feet off.

  4. Hold stable, breathe.

  5. Dismount, switch sides.

  6. Repeat for sets.

Progression & Regression

To make this exercise harder: Grip Towel looser for instability.
To make this exercise easier: Assist with legs as in prior levels.
